What is AWS Clean Energy Accelerator 2.0?

The AWS Clean Energy Accelerator 2.0 program is a 5-week virtual acceleration program for cleantech startups. We offer expert-led workshops, mentorship, and network access to help startups advance digitally, co-innovate with energy companies, and facilitate potential pilots in clean energy.

What are the criteria for reviewing applicants?

This accelerator is designed for mature startups that are showing commercial traction and have pilot-ready solutions.

Do I have to relocate myself or the team to join the program?

No. The program is fully virtual, apart from the final Innovation Showcase event that will be in Lisbon.

How will the selection committee assess startups?

Startups will be assessed based on a mix of factors including clean energy impact, team structure, product/solution fit for listed challenges, product maturity, and potential to collaborate effectively.

How do I apply for the program?

What happens when the application is submitted?

The selection committee will review the application once it is submitted. You will start hearing back from us in early April if you’ve made it as a semi-finalist. Final selection will be made by mid-April and startups notified and announced by April 20th.

How is a startup’s IP treated by the program members and other program partners?

You may be required to sign non-disclosure agreements to protect your IP with participating Energy companies as potential pilots advance based on the level of protection you require. There is a dedicated section on the application for you to explain an IP consideration.

Will AWS be charging for startups to join the program?

There are no fees required. This is an equity-free accelerator focused on accelerating co-innovation.

How long is the program?

This is a 5-week accelerator program followed by an innovation showcase. Startups will continue to receive pilot support through Oct 31st, 2022, and can continue their relationship with supporting partners potentially beyond that date based on interest.

Does a startup need to attend all five weeks and the pilot module?

Yes, startups must attend the entire program and participate actively. You must commit one of your founders/executives in addition to any relevant working teams.

What happens after the program?

Startups and partners often continue to work together beyond the program. Startups that attend the program become part of the Alumni, which provides continued access to a global ecosystem of partners, other startups, founders, and mentors.
